UIL District Meet Sign Up Form A+ Academics – For grades 2nd - 8th

Attention Parents,

It is time to sign up for UIL!!

About UIL: The University Interscholastic League (UIL) was created by The University of Texas at Austin in 1910 and has grown into the largest inter-school organization of its kind in the world.

UIL offers the most comprehensive literary and academic competitive program in the nation. There are 20 elementary and middle school contests. The program of academic competition for elementary and middle school is known as "A+ Academics.”

These activities complement the academic curriculum and are designed to motivate students and provide the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of specific skills.

HSPS Competition: HSPS students in grades 2 – 8 will have the opportunity to compete in a UIL District Meet in the Spring (date and location to be determined). There will be limits to the number of students HSPS can send in each event to the District Meet so depending on the number of participants, there may be a local competition first to determine the students who will proceed to District.

A faculty member will work with students in each event and a practice schedule will be created that could include after school meetings and/or DEAR times.
Please review the list of events by grade level and complete the form below if you are interested in competing. Students may participate in more than one event.

For a description of each of the events, visit the UIL website at: Forms must be returned to your homeroom teacher or the front office no later than October 29th. A parent or guardian must sign the form.
