From Technology Applications 5D winners are Brooklyn King for Cultures-Religion, Taryn Conner Oaks for Science/Medical, Arianna Crawford for Music, Prableen Kocher for Social Studies, and Norah Berry for Social Studies.
From our high school course Graphic Design Sarah Elhabr won the Popular Vote competition for Best Digital Story, Senior Level.
Ms. Tackett won the Best Digital Story Popular Vote and the Art Category for the teacher competition.
We will be receiving an Educational Excellence Award from DISTCO for our school. Ms. Tackett has been asked to speak at the awards ceremony in Houston this Saturday.

On 4/23 the Harmony School of Political Science and Communication Destination Imagination "Scienceshrooms" team was recognized by mayor Steve Adler and city council member Sheri Gallo. Team members include Evgeniy Agaev, Sidnee Bell, Tharun Ekambaram, Gabriela Martin, and Brendan O’Mara as well as 5th grader Anya Kureshi.
Mayor Adler applauded the true DI spirit: - "we need completely new ideas, even the weird ideas Austin is famous for — ideas you get when you mix artists, tech and business and nonprofit leaders and activists ... Inclusion, innovation and intentional improvisation are how we use Austin’s people and culture to build a big, weird, exceptional city."

Limited quantities have been ordered. 200 Elementary books are available, and 150 Middle School/High School books are available.
Elementary yearbooks are $20 if you pre-order. Price increases to $30 once they arrive.
Middle School/ High School yearbooks are $40. Price increases to $50 once they arrive.

|G.T. Referral Period Spring Opens This Week|
Referrals for students in grades K-12 who are not currently being served in the Gifted and Talented Program or who have not participated in the screening process in the past two years will be accepted starting Wednesday May 5, 2015 at 7:45 a.m. through Friday, May 15, 2015 at 3:00 p.m.
New students who participated in a gifted and talented program in their previous district should notify Mrs. Cravey of the GT services they were receiving to be evaluated during this referral period. Parent referral forms will be available in the front office as well as in the G.T. office . Teachers and parents may refer prospective candidates for testing. Referral forms should be returned to Mrs. Cravey's mailbox via the front office staff.
Referred students will be assessed in August, specific dates and times to follow.

In order to ensure that our students are engaged in their classes, we do NOT allow students to use their cell phones in class. If a teacher sees a student using a cell phone in class, it will be confiscated.

Thursday April 23 the Harmony Destination Imagination 4th/th grade team "Scienceshrooms" was honored at City Council with a proclamation by Mayor Steve Adler. Congratulations to our award-winning team who will be representing Harmony at the global finals tournament in Knoxville, Tennessee in late May.
|Destination Imagination 'Scienceshrooms' team|
Our 4th and 5th grade Destination Imagination 'Scienceshrooms' team who placed second at state this weekend in the Creature Feature team challenge, qualifying them to participate in global finals. The team will be competing May 20-23 at global finals in Tennessee. The students on the team are Evgeniy Agaev, Sidnee Bell, Tharun Ekambaram, Gabriela Martin, and Brendan O’Mara as well as 5th grader Anya Kureshi.
The “Scienceshroom” team created a creature with three actions, as well as an adventure story with two world features. The setting of the story is a science lab and forest with mushrooms. Their team choice elements were a backdrop and mushroom cap in which they demonstrated their artistic ability, as well as original guitar background music.
Focusing on 21st Century skills, Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM), and leadership skills, each team works outside the school day in preparation for tournaments. Please click here to see the pictures.
|8th Grade Ice Cream Sale|
Every Friday, 8th grade will be selling ice cream at both dismissals.
Inside the courtyard at the elementary dismissal, and outside by the pick up line at
middle school dismissal. All money benefits their end of year trip to Six Flags. All ice cream is $1.00 - Thanks for your support..
| Autism Awareness Race|
The kids volunteered with the Austim Society of Central Texas on Friday. We helped to fold shirts and prepare and hand out packets to those individuals participating in the Austim Race. The race took place in Georgetown over the weekend.

|Engineering Design and Presentation!!!|
Next year HSPS will be offering Engineering Design and Presentation to high school students in grades 10th, 11th, and 12th! Students will build problem-solving skills and be empowered to think like an engineer by engaging in authentic engineering experiences. The students will be following the Engineer Your World curriculum, created by engineer professionals at the University of Texas. Who should take this class? Anyone interested in engineering! The goal is not to turn all students into future engineers, but to inspire students to discover the value of engineering to solve real-world problems. HSPS Students traveled to Bryan-College Station this past Saturday to participate in a UIL District Meet. HSPS participated in 28 events and received 22 awards including 3 First Place winners. We are very proud of each of the participants and their efforts!

|The "Scienceshroom" Harmony Destination Imagination team Wins Creature Feature Destination Imagination Challenge|
March 7th HSPS Destination Imagination team the "Scienceshroom" won first place for an elementary-age team at the Capital Region tournament in Pflugerville, Texas, qualifying them to move on to the Destination Imagination state competition where they will compete in Dallas on April 10+11, 2015.
They also were awarded a Renaissance Award for extraordinary amounts of effort and preparation as well as outstanding design, engineering, execution, and performance.
HSPS Kindergarten and 1st grade Rising Stars non-competitive team also participated.
|HARMONY SCIENCE & ENGINEERING FAIR (H-SEF) CHAMPIONS|
Congrats! To all our students who participated Harmony Science & Engineering Fair last Saturday in Houston. Our students competed against best projects of regionals in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas , Arkansa and Louisiana.
1. Ertugrul Oksuz and Imam Widodo received gold medal in Mathematical Science, also this projects was chosen the best of best in senior category of the event. Ertugrul and Imam will also represent Harmony in Brazil in this year (World contest)
2. Farris Adra and Ali Hammad received silver medal in Technology. They will represent our schools in Hong Kong in this year (World-wide contest)
3. Mariam Hammad took 2nd place (Silver) in Environmental Science and will represent our schools at I-SWEEEP (International) in Houston in this May.
4. Rubi Vera received Honorable Mention award in Engineering
